Tomatoes
Well today I challenged myself to photograph something savoury instead of all the sweet calorie laden foods I’ve been photographing lately. So I decided to photograph tomatoes. This proved to be a complete pain in the photographic neck!
The main problem I had was ligthing. I tried using natural light from the kitchen window, but I just got the reflection of the window in the tomato. So I put a diffuser in front of the window, still got a window reflection, so I used my spotlight with the daylight bulb. i just got a really harsh spotlight reflection then. I almost gave up after 3/4’s of an hour getting nowhere. I decided one last try and actually held the lamp directly above the tomato itself. This seemed to work! yay! I could have done with being an octopus really. I had the camera on the tripod, used the remote shutter release in one hand, lamp over the tomato in the other hand. This was the resulting shot. I am quite pleased with it, although I would have liked better focus on the water droplets, but hey ho.. it’s the best I got today.

The second shot is what I originally planned to take rather than the one above, but I’m not so happy with this one, although I do like the DoF.
